Irish comedians and comedy fans alike are mourning the cancellation of Republic of Telly

IT’S BEEN A SAD day for Irish comedy with the announcement that RTÉ has cancelled sketch show Republic of Telly.
Spanning eight years and 15 seasons, the show lead to spin off Bridget and Eamon, and launched the Rubberbandits’ breakthrough video, Horse Outside.
Presenter Edwin Sammon told TheJournal.ie that “every show has its time” but he hopes that comedy on RTÉ continues “onwards and upwards”:
